America's Awkward Relationship with China

China's economic influence has become significant, as many U.S. companies are now dependent on the nation for manufacturing. Despite President Bush's claim that he'd confront all tough questions with other nations, it hasn't been the case with China. This is despite their enormous trade surplus with the U.S., their support for numerous dictatorships, their poor human rights record, and the increasing world influence that they enjoy due to their growth. One might be left to conclude that the economic factors (U.S. dependence) are leading to Bush's weak stance. This week Chinese President Hu Jintao will visit the United States. It'll be interesting to see what comes out of the visit.
